Planetaro ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use our mobile applications (iOS and Android), website, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

Information We Collect

We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide and improve our services. We do not track individual users for advertising or profiling purposes.

Information You Provide

  • Contact form submissions — name, email address, and message content when you contact us through our website. This data is used solely to respond to your inquiry.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Location data — used to calculate planetary hours based on your geographic position. Location data is processed on your device and is not stored on our servers.
  • Device information — device type, operating system version, and app version for compatibility and troubleshooting.
  • Anonymous usage analytics — aggregated data about which features are used and how often, helping us prioritize improvements. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.

Information We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect names, email addresses, or personal identifiers through the app
  • We do not collect or store your precise location on our servers
  • We do not build user profiles or track individuals across apps or websites
  • We do not collect financial or payment information (all transactions are processed by Apple or Google)

How We Use Your Information

  • Calculate accurate planetary hours and moon phases for your location
  • Deliver notifications and alarms you have configured
  • Export planetary hours to your device calendar
  • Display widgets, Live Activities, and watch complications
  • Understand aggregate feature usage to improve the app
  • Respond to support inquiries submitted through our contact form

Subscriptions and Payments

Planetaro offers optional premium subscriptions (monthly and yearly plans). All payments are processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not receive, process, or store any payment information such as credit card numbers or billing addresses. Subscription management, billing, and refunds are handled through your device's app store. Please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy or Google's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle payment data.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate and improve Planetaro. These services may collect limited data as described below:

Firebase (Google)

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous, aggregated usage statistics. Firebase may collect device identifiers, app usage events, and crash data. This data is used solely for understanding app performance and feature usage — not for advertising or user tracking. For more information, see Firebase Privacy Information.

Google Analytics

Our website uses Google Analytics to understand visitor behavior in aggregate (page views, traffic sources, device types). Google Analytics uses cookies and may collect IP addresses, which are anonymized. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

OneSignal

We use OneSignal to deliver push notifications. OneSignal may collect device tokens and device identifiers for the sole purpose of delivering notifications you have opted into. We do not use OneSignal for targeted advertising. See OneSignal's Privacy Policy.

reCAPTCHA (Google)

Our website contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA Enterprise to prevent spam. reCAPTCHA may collect hardware and software information, such as device and application data, and send it to Google for analysis. See Google's Privacy Policy.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

App Tracking Transparency (iOS)

Planetaro does not track you across other companies' apps and websites. We do not participate in ad networks or share data with data brokers. As such, Planetaro does not trigger the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt on iOS, because no cross-app or cross-site tracking occurs.

Cookies

Our website may use cookies for:

  • Essential cookies — required for the contact form and reCAPTCHA to function
  • Analytics cookies — used by Google Analytics to understand site traffic in aggregate

When you first visit our website, a cookie consent banner allows you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. Your preference is stored locally and respected on subsequent visits. You can also control cookie behavior through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of certain website features.

Data Retention

  • Analytics data — retained by Firebase and Google Analytics for up to 14 months, then automatically deleted
  • Contact form submissions — retained only as long as necessary to respond to your inquiry, then deleted
  • Push notification tokens — retained by OneSignal while you have notifications enabled; removed when you uninstall the app or disable notifications
  • Location data — processed on-device in real time and never stored remotely

International Data Transfers

Our third-party service providers (Firebase, Google Analytics, OneSignal) may process data on servers located in the United States and other countries. These providers maintain their own data protection practices and compliance certifications. By using our Service, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your country of residence.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction. All data transmitted between our services uses encryption (HTTPS/TLS). However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
  • Deletion — request that we delete your personal data
  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Opt-out — disable analytics collection by revoking app permissions or using browser opt-out tools

For European Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area, our legal basis for processing your data is legitimate interest (improving our services through anonymous analytics) and consent (for notifications and location access). You may withdraw consent at any time through your device settings.

For California Users (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion of your data, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

Children's Privacy

Planetaro is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided personal data, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
